UN Peacekeeping Chief Affirms Empowering Women in Peace Operations as Top Priority

Jean-Pierre Lacroix, the Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, addressed a side event on "Women Leaders in the Military" during the 65th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

During his speech, Mr. Lacroix emphasised the importance of increasing women's participation in UN Peacekeeping and stated that it is one of the highest priorities of his department. He further added that this objective is firmly grounded in the Security Council resolutions on Women, Peace and Security and the Secretary-General's Action for Peacekeeping Initiative (A4P).
