Jenny Lorentzen leads discussion on Women, Peace and Security Agenda implementation in Mali for UN Department of Peace Operations

Jenny Lorentzen moderated a virtual discussion titled "Mandate to Mission: Real Life Implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Mali" on Monday, May 24th. The Permanent Mission of France and the United Kingdom to the United Nations in New York and the Department of Peace Operations hosted the event. The dialogue included three members from Mali's Peace Agreement Monitoring Committee (Comité de Suivi de l’Accord, CSA), civil society leaders, and was co-sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Mali and Norway to the United Nations in New York.

The discussion aimed to gain insights and experiences directly from women who are participating in and supporting the peace process in Mali. It emphasised the vital role of women in political and peace processes, such as political transition, mediation, and conflict prevention. Additionally, the meeting sought to enhance comprehension of the challenges and opportunities required to ensure women's full, equal, and meaningful participation in these processes.
